Lawyer – Legal and Business Affairs Manager
We're looking for a qualified lawyer who will work within the Legal and Business Affairs team for BBC Films. If you have post qualification experience in feature film development, finance, production and distribution then this is an exciting and unique opportunity for you to provide a comprehensive and first class Legal and business affairs service, to BBC Films. BBC Films is part of BBC Vision, dealing with the development, production and financing of feature films intended for international theatrical release and their subsequent transmission on BBC television.
You'll be responsible for ensuring that BBC Films is provided with a negotiating, drafting and advisory service of the highest standards. You will advise on all aspects of the development, financing, production and distribution of independently produced feature films. As well as providing advice on copyright and clearances, you'll advise on sources of finance, recoupment and collection processes in liaison with the Senior Legal and Business Affairs Manager, Fiction. You'll develop and consolidate effective working relationships with the key areas within the BBC and with external suppliers.
We are looking for a qualified lawyer with post qualification experience in feature film development, finance, production and distribution. You'll have a focused commercial approach to business, a good grasp of the processes in the film financing environment and a strong knowledge of copyright and contract law. You will have an excellent understanding of the structure of, and contacts within, the film industry so will bring with you the direct and specific knowledge we are looking for along with demonstrable ability to establish highly effective working relationships and credibility with internal and external clients.
