Reporting to the Director, BBC Vision, you’ll be the genre’s key creative leader, responsible for bringing the best comedy programming to all BBC channels and platforms including mobile, broadband and on-demand.
Embracing a wide range of programming, BBC Comedy leads British comedy with such cutting edge and successful hits as Mrs Brown’s Boys, Episodes, Miranda, Stewart Lee, Outnumbered, Pramface and Him & Her.
Whether it is with laugh out loud sketch shows or thoughtprovoking satire, you must be able to marry the best performers with the best writers and producers to help develop comedy classics of the future.
A recognised industry figure with a formidable editorial and creative reputation, you’ll have a track record of collaborating with programme-makers, commissioners and talent to shape and build programme ideas.
You will forge close relationships with the other genres, in order to develop Comedy Entertainment, Comedy Drama and Films. With in-depth experience in Comedy production and/or commissioning, you’ll need to show you can develop Comedy talent including writers, producers, directors and on-screen talent, as well as have a passion for delivering the most innovative and original programmes to our audiences.
