We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Director to join our growing Media Services business at our offices based in central London. This is a target driven role, leading a small team to deliver results whilst shaping and defining the product and portfolio for the future.
Babcock is a leading service provider to the communications industry, operating in the broadcast infrastructure, mobile and fixed telecommunications markets in the UK and internationally.
The Business Development Director will be responsible for the delivery of sales and growing our commercial revenue streams for our radio broadcast and wider media clients across a variety of distribution platforms. You will lead the process from the initial proposal to the execution of the project. Through strategic planning in line with the business objectives, you will identify new areas of growth through formal tendering opportunities and informal market channels. A key part of your role will be to maintain a comprehensive sales pipeline through market analysis and identification of new business opportunities. You will develop innovative technological solutions to problems and maximise opportunities
To be successful in this role you must have a broad understanding of a variety of media platforms, technologies and industry trends. A key part of the role will be to maintain and develop industry knowledge as well as building strong lasting relationships across a wide range of industry contacts with major UK and international broadcasters. Your previous experience will demonstrate excellent negotiation skills through successfully closing complex deals within the broadcast sector.
You will have wide knowledge of content distribution and transmission principles, primarily in a radio environment, alongside this you will be familiar with one or more of the following technologies within the Broadcast and Media environment: Digital TV, DVB-S and digital compression, coding and multiplexing, IP Networks, MPLS.
