As Forensic Audio Manager, you’ll have an exceptional opportunity to work with the latest crime-fighting technologies, bring dangerous criminals to justice, and make a real difference to millions of Londoners.
The Digital & Forensic Service within the MPS plays a pivotal role in making London safer by delivering robust and clear evidence to investigating teams and the wider criminal justice system.
Part of a close-knit management team, you’ll lead and develop a team of AV specialists and manage the day-to-day flow of work through the AV laboratory, advising and negotiating with investigating teams over evidential matters and priorities. As well as solving immediate technical problems, you’ll be involved in a number of longer-term initiatives. These will range from developing forensic strategies in liaison with police officers and the Crown Prosecution Service, to evaluating new technologies and working methods to keep us at the forefront of digital forensics.
Ideally qualified to HND/degree standard in electronics or IT, your knowledge of digital forensics should have a particular bias towards audio recording systems and signal processing. As well as the leadership skills to take us through a period of change as we strive to gain ISO 17025 accreditation, you’ll need a strong customer focus, sound judgement and excellent planning skills. You should also be comfortable presenting evidence in court.
