Join a 24-hour operational MCR Team maintaining our customer services at peak efficiency
Arqiva is a communications infrastructure and media services company spearheading the provision of network solutions and services in the digital world. We provide much of the infrastructure behind television, radio, satellite and wireless communications, both in the UK and globally. Customers include world-renowned major broadcasters and telco providers.
As Master-Control Room (MCR) Engineer reporting to the Shift Leader: Satellite Networks, you’ll join a 24-hour operational team, involved in regular weekend and night working, responsible for the operation of customer services, including reporting equipment and system problems and drafting incident reports. This will include the booking and operation of third party services, in addition to the control, configuration and operation of equipment directly and remotely using monitoring and control systems. The MCR Engineer role will also involve:
• reporting and logging service details
• switching feeds
• call-out and fault escalation procedures
• occasional maintenance and project work.
Some travel to other Arqiva facilities and customer premises may be required.
With at least a BTEC National qualification, or equivalent, in Electronic/Electrical Engineering OR significant experience in a broadcast operational environment, you must be familiar with broadcast system standards and waveform measurements, with knowledge of satellite RF systems, and associated technologies. Your exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail will complement strong interpersonal skills, including a good telephone manner, for handling customers and third parties. Able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment as part of a small team, you should also have the ability to prepare clear and concise fault reports. We’d also ideally like:
• some knowledge of service and Incident management methods (INFRA)
• a clear understanding of the relationship between provider, satellite operator and customer
• CP/IP knowledge
• some experience of automated monitoring solutions (SMTP, Closed Contact, Applications and principles).
