Channel 5 News is a distinctive news service produced by ITN, covering the key events of the day with a boldness to often lead on different stories to other news programmes and put people at the heart its news reports. The flagship programme at 5pm is watched by up to a million viewers, with a later bulletin broadcast at 6.30pm and regular short news updates throughout the day.
ITN is looking for an experienced Production Assistant to assist and time the main Channel 5 news programmes, as well as providing accurate, effective and timely support to the newsroom and production teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately timing the main 5 news programmes at 5pm and 6pm, as well as co-ordinating with Channel 5 TX the ‘on-air’ and ‘off-air’ times of all shows and communicating this to the wider team. You will be tasked with counting out VTs and ‘Supers’ clearly and precisely while ensuring the smooth transmission of the programme.
Additionally, you will be providing general administrative assistance to the newsroom and completing music clearances and reporting.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong mathematical skills and demonstrable experience in a gallery. You must be able to stay calm in a pressurised environment, and use your initiative and excellent communication skills to carry out multiple tasks in the gallery and newsroom each day.
