What is Acquisitions..
The Acquisitions department’s primary objective is to source and acquire the best content for the Comedy Central and MTV Channels across UK Cluster which extends to UK, Nordics, Poland, Russia, Hungary, CEE & Israel.
The way in which content is sourced ranges from international markets, meetings with distributors and proactively tracking the global TV landscape for content opportunities.
What will you be doing..
Work with the Director of Acquisitions and Channel 5’s acquisitions team on tracking UK and International Programming news with a particular focus on comedy.
Lead all comedy reporting around LA Screenings, US Midseason, Live Stand-Up tours and MIP as part of year round tracking which spans scripted and non-scripted opportunities.
Proactive sourcing, screening and sharing of new content opportunities.
Work with research to support the department’s acquisitions strategy across all territories.
Identify and oversee movie selection for the UK pay channels, working with Channel 5.
Responsibility for updating avails on behalf of UK Cluster; notifying local teams of any content options.
Meeting Distributors and fielding Programming ideas
Work closely with the scheduling team to ensure any gaps are identified in advance.
To support the Director of Acquisitions & Acquisitions Manager with negotiations across UK Cluster as directed.
Lead all VIMN pipeline discussions for UK Cluster channels, including content selection and negotiation (e.g. from CCUS, CC International, Channel 5, IPS)
Work alongside the Director of Acquisitions in preparing and correlating Approval Documents, including ROI.
Work closely with legal, affiliate, finance, press & marketing, online and other departments as required.
Travel across all relevant markets where appropriate
What you will need to succeed..
Proven experience of deal formation & negotiation gained in an entertainment related role
Experience in a similar TV environment in at least one of the named markets
Content expert and demonstrable passion for TV, and in particular comedy
Understanding of Pay TV and Non Linear
Knowledge of the Comedy Central and MTV marketplace and their competitors
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to work quickly and on own initiative as well as taking direction
Willing to work on projects outside of job spec alongside other members of the Programming team
Able to travel as required
Strong organisational and communication skills
Excellent communication skills
