Editor, Question Time
Question Time is looking for a new Editor to lead BBC One’s premier political debate programme.
You should have considerable editorial experience at senior level in political journalism and/or broadcasting, and a track record of building and leading successful teams and working with high profile presenters.
You should have an excellent grasp of politics, great ideas for new and surprising panellists and an eye for the kind of question that captures the essence of a debate.
Question Time is one of the BBC’s highest profile current affairs brands, and attracts millions of viewers who only occasionally dip into politics. You should have a strategy for building on that mass audience, winning new viewers and creating moments of television drama that the nation will be talking about. You should also have a plan for building on Question Time’s engagement with audiences through social media, and ideas for how the programme can innovate in this field.
The Editor outputs the programme each week, so we are looking for someone experienced in running a gallery on live programmes.
The Editor is responsible for selecting each week’s panel so you should have an impressive contact book. You should also demonstrate an ability to cast eye-catching combinations of politicians and non-politicians.
Question Time is produced by Mentorn Scotland. The Editor will need to work flexibly and split the working week between the Glasgow office and travel around the country.
To apply, please send your CV and one side of A4 outlining your vision for the programme, to Jill Greenwood at Mentorn Scotland
Deadline for applications: 13th August
