Applications are invited for the post of StoryFutures Manager to join the new Centre for Digital Creativity in the Department of Media Arts, Royal Holloway University of London. The Centre for Digital Creativity is an exciting new initiative to link cutting-edge research and teaching within the College with high profile creative industries partners. StoryFutures is an ambitious project within the Centre that will provide an R&D base for screen industries to meet the challenge of next-generation storytelling, producing compelling content for emerging creative technologies.


The StoryFutures Manager is the lead administrative and communications role in the delivery of our work.  The post has a high level of Organisational responsibility, with a focus on providing high level support and project management to the R&D team based at Royal Holloway and HEI partners. The post holder will ensure effective communications and co-ordination of academic and administrative teams to help ensure work packages are delivered to time and budget, including managing day-to-day finances and administrative teams. The post will also take a leading role in StoryFutures communications strategy – internally and externally – ensuring the effective integration of the project with both Royal Holloway systems and the connected projects. This work will include managing communications channels and strategies for event production.

The role sits within the Media Arts Department as part of the new Centre for Digital Creativity (CDC), which brings together Media, Computer Science, Drama, Psychology, Management, Geography and Electronic Engineering. Royal Holloway is ranked in the top 10 or 20 departments in the UK for all these disciplines, providing a dynamic environment that connects creative industries with world leading researchers. As such, the ideal candidate will have experience of working across universities and creative industries or, alternatively, across different creative industries.

The successful candidate will have experience of communications management as well as of project management of diverse teams, including financial reporting. Ideally you will have skills in collaborative working and data management, such as Slack or Basecamp, and be adept at learning new digital tools for reporting and monitoring You may have experience of supporting funding/finance applications for creative or research projects. You will have an outstanding ability to work proactively, including deputizing and delegating where necessary.

This is a full time 4 year post, available from 01 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a post with strong potential for contract extension. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with industry partners across the local region, including central London. An attractive relocation package is available.

Their presentation should ideally show understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working across sectors (e.g. creative industries-university collaborations or across different sectors in creative industries).
