Optical Lens Engineer
We are looking to recruit a Lens/Mechanical Optics Engineer to work in Professional Repairs/Engineering team at our busy Brentford HQ.
This is a full time role which is ideally suited to a self-motivated, dynamic and conscientious team player looking to work in an environment which cultivates engineering excellence, creativity, partnership and tackling problems in new ways.
You’ll get involved in a wide range of Diagnostic, Evaluation, Repair, Refurbishment and Re-Engineering activities covering the broad remit of Lenses/optical mechanics at CVP. This will include working with lenses across Stills Photography/DSLR/Digital Mirrorless photography, Broadcast lenses (e.g. for ENG, sports coverage, wildlife programming, Studios etc) and Cinematography lenses (including anamorphic) from all of the manufacturers (including Canon, Fujinon, Zeiss, Cooke, Sigma, Angenieux, ARRI etc). Regular manufacturer training is provided throughout your career with CVP.
Broadly speaking, the role will involve, evaluations, diagnosis/fault finding & confirmation, repair, refurb and re-engineering of the lenses and will inevitably incorporate a wide variety of activities including (please note that this isn’t an exhaustive list);
- Working with the Account Management team to evaluate lenses
- Setting-up/configuring various diagnostic equipment
- Confirming calibration of test equipment
- Testing/diagnosing a range of potential faults/issues against the entire remit of optical lenses encountered by CVP
- Providing quotations/estimates for repair/maintenance work as required
- Stripping down and re-building lenses
- Repair and refurbishment of lenses to OEM standards
- Re-testing of lenses post repair
- Maintaining accurate and up to date records of repairs/work and logging activity on IT Systems
- Spot checking new equipment.

Degree or equivalent subject in Mechanical Engineering or related subject

Skill in repair of optical lens systems.

Salary – Depending on experience and qualifications £35k+.
