Job Description

The Broadcast Engineer position is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the scoreboard control room technology at Chase Center. We are looking for someone that will take a hands-on approach in collaborating directly with the production and editorial staff while serving as the "Engineer in Charge". You will be the first line of support for any technical issues during events while working effectively to ensure a smooth production. This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, California. Responsibilities
  • Identifying and executing new projects, as well as, covering preventive maintenance, system/workflow installations, and upgrades
  • Lead initiatives between broadcast engineering and operations, arena A/V, IT, and post-production is imperative. This position will collaborate with the Director, Scoreboard Operations
  • Point of contact for all associated production systems: video/audio routing, signal processing, LED displays, cameras, switchers, audio mixers, replay system, intercom, lighting, edit systems, etc
  • Improving functionality and organization of the technical spaces including Control Rooms, Central Equipment Room and Edit Bays
  • IPTV systems including content acquisition, routing and distribution of video signals throughout the venue
  • Preventative maintenance, improving technology uptime to maximize productivity
  • Create and maintain wiring documentation and system configuration documentation
  • Oversee service contracts and third-party integrations and maintenance
  • Evaluate current technology in all properties for life expectancy, repair and replacement
  • Ensure all equipment is game ready and events are covered through scheduling
  • Familiar with scoring equipment. Able to communicate with game officials and broadcast representatives
  • Maintain knowledge and know the latest technological advances including media and entertainment technologies, studio production and workstation products Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, broadcast engineering, computer science, computer engineering, media production or related field;
  • Minimum three years' experience in live television or board show production
  • Documentation skills including creating and maintaining library of technical drawings and the ability to create and follow SOPs
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, lighting, UPS, HVAC and basic construction techniques
  • Knowledge/ability to apply terminations/connectors to various types of network cables such as coaxial, twisted pair, and optical fiber cables that carry SDI video, AES and analog audio, RF and IP signals
  • Understanding of file-based multimedia technologies and video edit systems
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical end users
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate the status of problems, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks
  • Due to the nature of our business, work hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the following broadcast standards:
  • SMPTE 2110, AES67, MADI, Dante, DMX, MXF, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, RS-422, RS-232
  • Professional network and broadcast certifications
  • CCENT, Network+ or higher. SBE certifications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD, Visio or other CAD software
  • Professional operating experience with video switchers, audio consoles, replay and graphics machines
  • Specific experience with Ross infrastructure, Imagine or Evertz IP routing, EVS, Evertz Dreamcatcher, and Daktronics
