ABBAS Media Law are a niche, specialist law firm, working principally in the television, film and publishing industries. They are experts in all aspects of the law and regulations affecting these sectors and advise many of the UK’s leading broadcasters, independent production companies, and other content producers.

Job Description
The successful candidate will join a small team of lawyers and advisors working with the firm’s clients principally on television business affairs and production services-related matters. In addition, there is scope to train in other areas of media law – e.g. media content, advice and litigation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and be trained by some of the most experienced and sought-after media lawyers and advisors in the business.

Experience Required
The candidate will have:
• Some media contracts law experience in the UK television industry, preferably including experience of drafting and negotiating some or all of:
▪ Contributor, talent and underlying rights agreements.
▪ Broadcaster/commissioner, financier, co-production agreements.
▪ Distribution agreements.

The candidate will have a practical understanding of the process of television production, preferably gained as an in-house lawyer at a television production company or broadcaster.

Qualification and Skills
The candidate will have:
• At least 1 years+ post-qualified experience.
• An excellent academic record, and excellent written, research and presentational skills.
• The ability to work efficiently on competing projects and under pressure, to tight deadlines.
• Enthusiasm and dynamism, be self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills.
• A keen interest in the television and media industries and be eager to take on new challenges.

Employee Benefits
• Salary: £45-£65K (F/T or pro-rata).
• Annual Leave: 25 days + plus 1 day a year up to a max of 30 days + bank holidays.
• Pension: currently NEST.
• FT/PT: Full time (but would consider part time – min 25 hours per week).
