We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead Directors UK in the SVOD age.
Based in Covent Garden, London, Directors UK is the professional association for film and television directors and the collective management organisation that represents the economic and creative rights of over 7,000 television and film directors in the UK. We provide a range of services to our members including campaigning and lobbying, commercial negotiations, legal advice, events, as well as skills and career development.
The Chief Executive will engage with government at national and European level and negotiate with broadcasters, SVODs, film and television production companies and a wide range of industry stakeholders in the UK and globally in a period of rapid change for our industry, to ensure that the director’s voice is heard as rights in the new media landscape are defined. We are looking for a leader with the ability to maintain and enhance the collaborative culture that the organisation has developed.
Directors UK will continue to have a prominent role in the rights debate and the strategic challenges posed by this fast-changing industry. We expect to increase our income and the efficiency of our rights distribution. We will continue to advocate for better creative conditions for directors in film and television and maintain a centre of training excellence to support and celebrate the work of our members.
You may be a professional working in business, commercial or public affairs, or in production operations, running an arts organisation, or none of these, but you will be a persuasive and charismatic leader, able to open doors, to speak in public and to promote and represent the interests of Directors UK members. You will provide leadership and management experience to our talented and energetic staff and report to an elected Board of experienced film and television directors.
This is a high-profile role at a time of great change and an opportunity for an outstanding and ambitious candidate to demonstrate his or her ability in the field of film and television, one of the UK’s truly world class industries.
The competitive salary will be commensurate with experience.
