Why this role matters

BT Sport holds exclusive live UK TV rights to 52 Barclays Premier League matches as well as rights to the FA Cup, England Under 21’s, FA Trophy and FA Vase, Scottish Premiership, Scottish League, National League, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga football matches. BT Sport also has live and exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

BT Sport’s Football Department requires a Producer to work on both live match and support programming across its portfolio of football properties. The Producer role will provide a range of support for the Executive Producer, whilst managing a team of Assistant Producers, Production Juniors and any studio/ on-site staff. The role is directly responsible for producing live programming for BT Sport, either from studio or on-location, and other programming as required.

What you'll be doing

 

The Producer is responsible for all content for assigned shows. They will lead production meetings, be responsible for programme formats and ensure the programme content is covered in an accurate and entertaining fashion. The producer will work with all programme talent to drive the content of the programmes. This person will need to be flexible in their thought processes to not only demonstrate creativity, but to be able to adjust to developing stories in a live environment. The producer is the central communicator to the talent and production team.

 

  • Managing & producing programming and delivering in accordance with contracts.
  • Co-ordinating with members of the production and technical staff to create informative and entertaining sports programming
  • Producing assigned sports programmes independently with regular guidance from the responsible Senior/ Executive Producer.
  • Using mastery of sports knowledge and news judgement to determine the agenda, concepts and content of assigned sports programmes
  • Adjusting and adapting programme content to accommodate breaking news situations; interpret breaking news and translating it into programme content in a responsible and editorially sound manner
  • Overseeing a staff of Assistant Producers and Junior Assistants to create and develop assigned sports programmes.
  • Managing & liaising with suppliers, third parties and freelancers to ensure all programming delivered on time
  • Where applicable liaise & maintain excellent customer relationships with external clients to meet requirements of contracts
  • Managing & monitoring programme budgets and expenditure
  • Contributing to discussions around new initiatives and changes to workflows to increase efficiencies.

 

We'll also need to see these on your CV

  • Proven experience in Broadcasting Production/ Programming; i.e. Producing live & recorded programming from studio galleries and/ or on-site at Outside Broadcasts
  • Relevant experience in managing and developing teams
  • Knowledge of industry best practise and statutory regulations
  • A detailed knowledge and passion for football/ sport
