The National Football League is looking for an entertainment attorney with significant production experience to advise on a broad range of transactional, intellectual property, clearance and operational matters. The individual will act as counsel for various productions (both television and digital) at NFL Network and NFL Digital Media and support the legal operations for each. This attorney will be responsible for advising on the creation and use of content for various platforms (television, digital, social) and for assisting with the review and negotiation of various license, talent, vendor and services agreements. In addition, this attorney will work closely with business clients and other members of the legal department on employment matters and other legal projects that may arise.

A successful candidate will possess excellent writing and communication skills, a natural ability to work independently and with others, strong negotiation skills and project management capabilities, and an ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Partner with the leadership team at NFL Network and NFL Digital Media on business transactions and day-to-day risk management in connection with content production and overall operations
  • Counsel internal clients on a variety of matters arising from the operations of a 24x7 cable television network and related digital media business, including conducting pre-broadcast content review to advise on levels of risk related to intellectual property and other potential legal claims and evaluating and facilitating clearance requests
  • Draft and negotiate above and below-the-line services, vendor and staffing agreements in connection with the production of news, sports, and unscripted television programming, including talent and participant agreements, appearance materials, and location agreements as well as indemnity agreements
  • Assist with labor and employment matters and related issues as needed
  • Negotiate and draft ordinary course-of-business contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, service agreements, employment agreements and outsourcing agreements
  • Assist with other legal matters on an as-needed basis
  • Supervise outside counsel on matters as appropriate


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at a top-tier law firm, network, studio, or production company; studio/production experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of substantive areas of law related to television production, including copyright, trademark, right of publicity, labor, and privacy
  • Understanding of digital media and technology preferred
  • Strong negotiation, communication and project management skills
  • Strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to handle diverse projects simultaneously for multiple stakeholders
  • Law Degree
