Job Description


Our West London based broadcaster client is looking for a pivotal team member to be involved in the day-to-day MCR and Ingest operation, responsible for all MCR functions including satellite downlinking, management of IP contribution circuits and preparing contribution feed line-ups for TX, Production or Digital. The Technical Operator, MCR & Ingest will also have responsibility for the processing of recorded files including QC and metadata capture.


  • Key Responsibilities


  •  Satellite downlinking and setting up return circuits
  • Management of IP contribution circuits, including WAN and LAN
  • Lining up of video and configuration of incoming audio circuits
  • Routing and switching of feeds, based on internal booking system
  • Responsible for delivery of correct feed to production control rooms and live transmission suites
  • Liaising with 3rd party contribution circuit suppliers, as well as with internal stakeholders
  • Trouble-shooting technical issues and escalation of faults to relevant teams
  • Contribute to detailed reports and metrics
  • Management of incoming audio circuits to ensure commentators are assigned to correct feeds for air or production
  • Responsible for Quality Control and Technical Approval of ingested files ensuring all content meets company and industry specifications
  • Manage bookings and resources utilising centralised systems
  • Manage tight-turnaround recordings of live events, ensuring readiness for air at the scheduled air time
  • Other reasonable duties and tasks as requested by the management team
  • Responsible for metadata entry and management
  • Ingest of file-based content from various sources including ENG crews and OB 






  • The ability to work well under pressure in a live transmission and production environment
  • Good operational knowledge of MCR technology and workflows
  • Good operational knowledge of ingest and QC workflows in a live environment
  • Knowledge of video and audio routing including traditional SDI and IP
  • Good knowledge of IT and TCIP networking infrastructure            
  • Knowledge of file formats, file transfers and asset management
  • Operational knowledge of broadcast equipment, including waveform monitors
  • Good understanding of technical and production workflows, with emphasis on a live sport production and broadcast environment
  • A proactive approach, determination to achieve the goals of the team and department, able to identify and prioritise problems and offer alternate solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • First class inter-personal and communication skills
  • Comfortable in an environment where teamwork, accessibility and pragmatism are emphasised
  • Good literacy and numeracy
  • Operational knowledge of BNCS and Stratus an advantage
  • The MCR & Ingest department is operational 24/7/365 and as such, this role is shift work based on a 40 hour working week which will include nights, weekends and public holidays.
