ROOT SPORTS™ is the television home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Timbers, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Big Sky Conference and Mountain West. The network delivers more than 350 live events each year across a five-state footprint. ROOT SPORTS is operated by AT&T Sports Networks, which operates regional sports networks in the Northwest, Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions. The four networks combined reach across 22 states and own exclusive rights to produce and distribute live events from more than 25 teams and conferences. Traffic Manager The Traffic Manager develops, reviews, maintains and has overall ownership for daily regional commercial logs. In this role, you will work closely with Sales, Programming, Finance, Production, Marketing, and Master Control. This position reports to the VP/General Sales Manager and is based in Bellevue, WA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage the Traffic team and overall business process.
  • Place all regional commercials accurately, ensuring the correct shows and time periods; Maximizing advertiser and product separation.
  • Partner with Sales via VP/GSM to maximize value of all network availabilities by way of custom analysis of inventory, manual placement of game logs, proactive mining of traffic system data analytics.
  • Review reports and data in WideOrbit to ensure accuracy of the spot placement and related criteria.
  • Review new and revised orders in WideOrbit for order accuracy and if issues occur, communicate timely to request resolution.
  • Preempt commercials for oversold shows, unavailable commercial copy, program changes and other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Partner with Sales team on unsold spots and availability, providing guidance to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Manipulate logs to place spots that are not placed automatically by WideOrbit.
  • Ensure timely log submission to Master Control. This includes performing log reviews to verify the accuracy and finalize the report.
  • Prepare and review monthly reports, including unsold time, paid program lists, advertiser and agencies, 800 and house numbers.
  • Maintain and update paid programming change lists and daily tape receipts and arrivals to and from Master Control.
  • Ensure timely assignment and communication of house numbers to Master Control.
  • Process copy between advertisers and the broadcast center, ensuring all commercials are electronically forwarded with accurate run detail.
  • Hold regular meetings with Sales, Programming, Traffic, and Master Control, as necessary, to discuss issues and resolution.
  • Accept after hours calls/emails from Master Control regarding log issues.
  • Maintain necessary files and evidence of review to ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Coach and manage a diverse team including setting quality standards, individual and team goals, driving personal and professional development of the team and conduct mid and annual reviews.
  • Other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Five years' experience in traffic processes for national or local broadcast advertising is preferred.
  • Two years' experience with television traffic and billing system software. WideOrbit experience is strongly preferred.
  • Two years' management and/or leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated skills with the Microsoft Office, including Intermediate level Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to initiate and grow mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Must be resourceful and a self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented results-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, local/regional sports teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
